cloth diapers & homemade baby food

i should be making breakfast right now. sidney will wake as soon as i try so i'm avoiding the whole scenerio. perhaps i'll just eat a banana. i've been trying to eat eggs in the morning - apparently that's good for me. however, i highly doubt it's any good for me between two pieces of bleached white bread. i'm trying to get my horrible relationship with food under control before sidney is old enough to pick up my bad habits. i don't eat often enough, i have about 10 sweet teeth, and lately i haven't had the motivation to cook. i don't find i'm hungry enough for a whole meal. see: i don't eat often enough. i know how it all works but it takes a lot of brain power to stay on top of it.

speaking of food ... the verdict is in on baby food. sidney just doesn't like jar food. he loves bananas just mashed up with a fork. he's taking a liking to apple sauce. i'm still trying to convince him he likes sweet potatoes out of a jar. i looked at the pureed ones we made at the daycare and it just seems too stringy. guess i'll try to make some at home. he still only eats 1tbs per day and that's mostly rice cereal. i'm pretty sure he'd prefer to just eat what i'm eating.

i'll get on that. but i'm not concerned. he's gaining about 2oz a week. apparently he should gain 1lb per month and at that rate he's gaining 8oz but he's gaining and he's happy and that's good enough for me. i'm amazed how relaxed i am about stuff like that. mind you, i'm not surprised either. i make up for it by being ridiculously anal in other areas.

i bought cloth inserts for sidney's gdiapers. i love gdiapers but they are expensive so it's stricly a money saving venture. they are so soft and fit the diapers better than their biodegradeable inserts. the moisture level is higher so he needs more airing out time but so far they're alright. i use them overnight to guarantee that they contain pee only. (remember: my child will only poop sitting up!). i haven't been convinced to become a cloth diaperer but i'm glad the six pack i bought will save us a few dollars over time with occassional and selective use.

i've been working a lot. it's not as bad as i thought it would be. sidney loves it there and he sleeps well so i manage to stay on top of things. but things at home - the house, paperwork, laundry etc fall behind and that creates a horrible cycle. david has so much to get done with the yard and the garage and then because i'm behind i need time on the weekend to catch up and then he loses out on time to get things done. sidney is happy to hang out on the floor and play, sometimes for hours. but he's a really gassy/acidy baby which he copes with just fine but he wants to be sitting up because he's more comfortable that way. one day i won't be busy. right?
