So we're going to be parents ...

Found on in early September that we're pregnant. One person asked if the barefoot wedding was a subtle clue for those smart enough to figure it out to which I responded, if they did, they knew before we did. Turns out we were pregnant before we got married. I had visited the ob-gyn about my cycle and inability to fall pregnant in the five months we'd been trying. He decided I needed blood work and then ovulation prediction testing and then more bloodwork. All of this had to be on a specific day of my cycle. So when I had a day or two of spotting and no real start to my cycle, I called the doctor Friday afternoon and explained that I didn't know when to start counting. He said, "could you be pregnant, take a test and call me Monday." I'd honestly given up hope so I sceptically waited not wanting to spend the money on a test and only gave in late on Sunday afternoon. Low and behold the two pink lines appeared! I'm sure I'll say this many times during my pregnancy but what an amazing feeling that was!

So ... here we are now, 9 weeks with just enough time to get things together before baby arrives. Based on my cycle I'm due May 9, based on the ultrasound I'm due May 13 so smack in the middle is May 11th 2009. 27 years to the day I was born. Mom can't come until May 8th so remember to send good vibes in early May that the baby does not come early!

Yeah, so the ultrasound. I spent the entire time watching David watch the monitor and thinking about how proud a daddy he is already. Wasn't much to see being so small but we got to see and hear the heart beating. I am truly amazed that at 1.7cm big our baby has all its organs, limbs, even fingernails. Powell River has ridiculous policies regarding ultrasound and the ultrasound images. We were told we can only have one photo per pregancy and that it cost $10.00. Being rational and realizing this one appears as a blob, we left without one. But when I got outside, I wanted one; it's the baby's first photo! So we went in and chose one and we'll go elsewhere for our next ultrasound. Comox gives you a cd of the images and maybe Nanaimo gives something comparable. My doctor has no problem sending me somewhere else because I wasn't even given an appointment for this ultrasound. I was called at 8:30 and told to arrive at 9:15 with a full bladder. Well, sorry lady but I just went pee. I was sure to let him know it was all her fault too when he proceeded to assume I didn't follow instructions.

It for now!
